About Jackie
Jackie Zimmerman has been in the patient advocacy game for almost two decades and has established herself as an authority on chronic illness, patient-centric healthcare, and patient community building. She began blogging after her multiple sclerosis diagnosis as a way to cope with this new normal. She repeated the process later when she decided to (over)share her battle with ulcerative colitis (UC). She is the founder of Girls with Guts, a nonprofit community for women with IBD and/or ostomies, and her patient advocacy game is so strong that she’s written eBooks, given various keynotes about her experiences, advocated in Washington, and launched multiple platforms to support patient care. As a chronic illness veteran and former roller derby athlete, she is extremely difficult to knock down—and extremely stubborn about always getting back up.
